For most of the season thus far, Armando Gallaraga has been the Tigers best starting pitcher. He’s 4-2 with a 3.44 ERA and 33K over about 50 innings. He’s got the looks, he’s got the brains, he’s got everything, right? So, tonight, Jim Leyland is, naturally, taking him out of the rotation.
That’s right – tonight is the return of the D-Train. Don’t get me wrong, I love love love the D-Train. HOWEVA, maybe it’s Da Train that should be coming in as long-relief for the Little Cat tonight instead of the other way around? Or maybe we try out a six man rotation? Or how bout this? Ever notice how Nate pitches awesome for about four innings and then gets lit up like a roman candle? Maybe Nate should be the long relief! This will be interesting to watch tonight, to say the least. Oh, and in other news, the bullpen blew it again last night. Also, the sun is hot.
Additionally, we welcome Casey Fossum to the Tigers tonight! Welcome Casey! You’ve been tearing it up in Toledo and hopefully you’ll be a solid addition to the bullpen. The Tigers haven’t yet announced who is going down (it needs to be Cruceta, but he is out of options) – any guess as to whom is leaving the esteemed suckpen? EDIT – TIGERS WEB LOG SAYS IT IS CRUCETA WHO HATH BEEN SENT AWAY
The D-Train makes me toot toot because of the upset stomach he gives me. Can we make sure he pitches only in interleague games for awhile?
Seay it ain’t so?
Seay is my guess in that it would be lefty for lefty and Bobby’s 1.59 WHIP ain’t helping matters.
Dolsi seems to have settled down since getting hit hard early (a 1.59 ERA/1.41 WHIP), but he probably has the most options remaining so maybe it’s him.
Miner? In spite of his sky high ERA, he seems to be coming around and we know it’s not gonna be Aquafina.
It is possible that they are giving up on Cruceta though, especially with Zumaya and Rodney starting their rehab assignments today.
I can legally drive faster than Fossum’s out pitch.
I was a fan of Cruceta, even though he never game me anything to cheer about. He won’t clear waivers though. By buddy. Burma.
