To borrow a phrase from Official Friend Of The Tilde, Yostal, our long national nightmare is over. Marcus Thames, Edgar Renteria, and Brandon Inge saw to it. And Carlos Guillen added to the excitement with a 9th inning homer that provided the winning margin. The Todd Jones Experience took us for another ride, loading the bases with 2 out in the 9th, but Youk popped it up and the men of Detroit brought home the first victory of the year. Now, instead of being the only winless team in baseball, the Tigers simply have the worst record in baseball – which they already had, but now there’s a non-round number in the win column.
Is this the start of a winning streak? Are the bats finally coming around? 10 hits and 7 runs (and drawing EIGHT walks) is a nice start, but the Tigers still left too many men on base. However, the bullpen held strong with 4 scoreless innings and the end of the losing streak has finally arrived. It’s a happy night in the land of the Rising Tilde for the Mighty Tigers have finally come out ahead.
