Here we are - 38 games into the season, roughly 1/4 of the way home. No, our hero is not leading a first place team, as was expected. However, his team is only 4 games out right now. Then again, said team is also only 16-22. After 0-7 begat 2-10 which begat 14-15…the Tiggers have regressed to 2-7 over their past nine after a 12-5 stretch. They swept the Yankees and then got swept by the Twins. And then dropped 3 of 4 to the Red Sox. Sunday was rained out, so the opportunity to take another series from the Yanks was denied. But, as always…there is reason for hope in the future.

Granted, this is what got the season off to such a shitty start, but you’d have to think they’ll be a little bit more prepared this time around. 3 Games In The Desert
Ah, yes, an interleague teaser. Back in March, this looked like a great potential series. That was before Verlander started off 1-6 with an ERA calculated with advanced quantum physics. Thankfully, Detroit will miss Brandon Webb and will instead face Dan Haren, Scherzer, and the Big Unit. The main idea here is to not get swept and to try to at least go 1-2 (do we dare hope for 2-1?).
6 Days Back Home
After returning from Arizona, the Tigers host more Left Coasters - 3 against Seattle and then 3 against division rival Minnesota. Dare we get a 4-2 or better homestand?
If the Tigers can go 2-1, 1-2, 2-1, 2-1 over these next four series - we’ve got a 23-27 team that will likely still be within striking distance of the Central. They’ll need that record at worst, because after that it’s a 9 game road trip against the AL West before returning home in June for the Indians and White Sox. Good times.
