So, uh, it’s been a busy few days in the world of The Big Tilde. As evidenced in the previous post, we finally cracked televised media with Fox Sports listing “The Big Tilde” as one of Magglio’s nicknames. We’re pretty happy about this development considering we are just three guys who randomly decided this should be his true nickname one evening at Comerica in the next to the last row of the joint. “The Big Tilde” has become common parlance on Deadspin, has been mentioned in the Lansing State Journal, and even MLB.com has gotten in on the act. Next up, we want to hear it come from the mouth of Morgan, Miller, Buck, or McCarver. It’s bound to happen. Actually, I’d like to hear Mario adopt it first. As for the games, our Tigers dropped 2 of 3 to the Angels. Monday was a day off, but we found our heroes in Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night…
The Gambler took the mound, and although very shaky at times, provided the Tigers with a solid six innings. Rogers gave up 6 hits, 4 walks, and struck out 4 - but only 2 runs crossed the plate. Meanwhile, The Son of Grander continued his red-hot return with a 2 for 3, 3 runs scored, 1 RBI, 1 HR (his 3rd already!), and he drew a pair of walks. Curtis is hitting .348 since being activated last week. Sheff even managed to get out of the infield with his 2nd homer of the year - hopefully his shoulder really is coming around. The Big Tilde was only 1 for 5, but he had a pair of RBI and his average now sits at a nice round .300. Placido also contributed a solid night, going 4 of 5 with an RBI. The Todd Jones Experience picked up save #5 after allowing a run to score in the 9th. Tonight, Bonderman faces off against Andy Pettitte.
I’m so proud of you guys!
