Once again, it all came down to one bad inning. Take away the fourth, and the Tigers inch another game closer to .500. Then again, take away the fourth and you’ve only got eight innings and an incomplete ball game. Gum Time fell to 0-2 on the season and A.J. Burnett improved to 2-1 as both starters went 5 before handing it over to the bullpen, and both teams pens shut the other team down for the rest of the day. Clete Thomas was Detroit’s star for the day, going 3 for 5 with a pair of RBI - Clete is now hitting .302 on the season filling in for The Son of Grander.
As stated during last week’s State Of The Tilde post, we wanted to see the Tigers go at least 4-4 during this set of games against Minnesota, Cleveland, and Toronto. Through seven games, the Tigers are 4-3 and have gone from 2-10 to 6-13. Only one of the losses has been bad and the Tigers have started showing signs of life. A win tomorrow would be a great way to end a 6 game road trip before returning home on Tuesday for 5 against the Rangers and Angels. Armando Galarraga faces off against Shawn Marcum tomorrow night at the Stadium Formerly Known As SkyDome.
Dear Pudge,
Swing away from the fielders. Away.
