Once again, the Detroit Tigers rode the squiggly wave of awesomeness, this time in a 2-1 victory over the visiting AL Central rival Cleveland Indians. Magglio Ordoñez’s solo home run in the 5th inning of Fausto Carmona broke the scoreless tie and gave rookie pitcher Jair Jurrjens jis jirst jin of jis jareer. The Big Tilde now has 23 home runs on the season.
Just how much are the Tigers being swooshed to success? That was TBT’s 41st RBI since the All-Star break. Next in line in this valuable stat is the plucky Brandon Inge (15). Inge has no documented accents above his surname. But the hard “g” sound is slightly badass. So we’ll allow it.
I agree; that hard ‘g’ is a little badass. Badass-adjacent, perhaps. However, I must refute Inge’s pluckiness. I happen to know for a fact that he has a remarkable lack of plucking ability. I read it at On the DL.
(We kid from love, Brandon.)
He has been known to pluck. But, if he can’t make a tremendous diving catch, he’ll selflessly let it pass right by him into left field, sometimes through the legs. For show, of course.
It’s incredible that the Tilde has that big of a lead over the #2 when it comes to RBI. And at least someone was able to give Jurrjens a little run support. I’d have hated to see another nice performance from him lead to a loss.
Thank you, El Tilde Grande, for marking our grand opening with a crucial home run. You have flair, to be sure.
It’s almost like he knew.
